Artist Statement Tracy Murrell is a self-taught artist. Picking up a paintbrush in the winter of 1996, she set out on a journey to create a painting of a sunrise to hang over her staircase. With one canvas, she painstakingly worked and reworked the piece until her vision was realized. The final piece entitled ‘Sunrise in the Universe’ took her 2 years to finish.

Fast forward 12 years later and you will find her in her studio working away. No longer spending 2 years to complete a piece, she has amassed an impressive body of work rich in color and texture.
